“Bronze Age Cultures”

Bronze Age Cultures in Central and Eastern Europe is the most voluminous work written by Marija Gimbutas and a landmark study in the archaeology of this region.  It consists of two parts, 681 pages of text and 115 tables, with the target audience being students specializing in archaeology.  Primary sources from fifteen countries were collected, classified, and evaluated in this study, the first to explore archaeological materials from Bronze Age cultures in the context of Central and Eastern Europe.  The second part, which deals with individual cultures, contains as many as 64 text pages on the Baltic culture, a comprehensive bibliography, a list of 166 monuments, and a mapping of the boundaries of the Baltic culture (Moscow in the east, Pripyat and Kiev in the south, the entire of Pomerania and the territory of the face urn culture, in the west).  Six groups of the Bronze Age Baltic culture are identified chronologically.
